Financial Aid

Overview
Jemicy School believes strongly in the value of need-based financial aid and offers financial assistance to many of its families each year. The amount of a financial aid grant is determined by a financial aid committee and is based both on the funds available and on each family’s need relative to the needs of others applying. The committee considers the finances of all family members including grandparents, other relatives and domestic partners, as well as family assets, expenditures and economic lifestyle choices.Jemicy expects both parents of financial aid applicants to be employed full-time unless there are very young children at home or other circumstances preventing employment. In the case of divorce, both parents are required to complete a financial aid application regardless of custody or legal financial arrangements.Jemicy awards financial aid to its returning families prior to families of prospective students.
Procedure and Deadlines
As a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Jemicy School utilizes the NAIS financial aid service School & Student Services (SSS) and abides by the NAIS Principles of Good Practice for Financial Aid Administration. It is crucial that all forms be completed thoroughly and submitted to SSS by the deadlines in order to be considered for financial assistance. Parents of returning students must complete their financial aid application by January 1, 2012; parents of prospective Jemicy students have until January 15, 2012. Subsequent to these deadlines, 2011 W-2’s and Business / Farm Statements (if applicable) are due February 1, and 2011 federal taxes, with all schedules, are due in no later than April 1, 2012.

Notification of Financial Aid Award
Returning families are notified of financial aid awards by early February, and their re-enrollment contracts are due back to the school in February. Newly accepted students will hear about financial assistance on or shortly after their acceptance on February 15th if there are funds available.
Late Financial Aid Applications
Late applications from any families, new or returning, will be considered for financial aid after April 1, 2012. Please note that it is uncommon for Jemicy to have remaining financial aid funds after April 1.
