Jemicy's Lower School - The Arts
• Visual Arts: The visual arts class explores the creative processes through two and three-dimensional art theory and concepts. Students paint, draw, study various artists and learn about their influence and style.
• Dance: The dance curriculum seeks to give students the opportunity to enjoy motion through dance in a relaxed, creative and encouraging environment. Dance class compliments the academic structure of the school day.
• Music: Integrating music into the curriculum stimulates the imagination and enhances the study of other disciplines. The music program is designed to be aesthetically, emotionally, socially and intellectually enriching for our students.
• Drama: The Jemicy School produces a Lower School musical production each year. This production involves all students in some capacity. In placing students in the performance, we consider several factors: students’ academic stability, emotional and social needs, interests and choices, skill level and appropriateness to role, willingness to take on responsibility and follow through. All who wish to be onstage are given that opportunity, and those who prefer backstage and technical positions are assigned jobs accordingly.
