National Chemistry Week 2011
Dr. Jeffrey Swab, a chemist and father of Y Group student Brian, spent the day of November 15th teaching several middle school science classes at Jemicy School. His visit coincided with National Chemistry Week, which focuses on a different theme each year. This year’s theme was chemistry and your health. Dr. Swab guided the students through multisensory, hands-on experiments that disclosed the amount of sugar in soft drinks, illustrated the interaction of stomach acids with fat in milk, and determined which sample of orange juice had the most vitamin C.
